6 Months of Imi’s Bigan Yoga: The Subtle Practice That Changed My Face (and My Life)
For the last six months, I’ve been doing something that costs zero dollars, takes less than 15 minutes a day, and has made a huge difference in my face and my overall sense of calm. It’s called Bigan Yoga— a Japanese face yoga method I discovered through a YouTube channel run by a kind, calming, and knowledgeable teacher named Imi.
And I have to say: this simple, subtle practice has become one of the most powerful things I’ve added to my routine all year.

What Is Bigan Yoga?
Bigan Yoga is a facial yoga practice that focuses on improving circulation, strengthening facial muscles and reducing tension and puffiness through gentle movements, breath and awareness. It’s not just about looking better (though that’s definitely a perk)—it’s about feeling better in your skin, literally and emotionally.
Imi’s YouTube channel is filled with free videos ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Her approach is incredibly gentle, feminine and easy to follow—even if you’ve never done face yoga before.
Why I Started (and Why I Kept Going)
At first, I just wanted to de-puff my face a little and maybe lift my cheeks. But within a few weeks, I noticed:
• A softer jawline
• Less puffiness in the morning
• Smoother nasolabial lines
• More symmetry in my features
• A noticeable glow I wasn’t getting from skincare alone
And beyond the physical changes? It became a moment of quiet in my day—a meditative reset that helped me reconnect with myself and slow down. As someone who juggles a million things, those few minutes each day have been priceless.
What’s Changed in 6 Months
The consistency has really paid off. Here’s what I’ve noticed now that I’m six months in:
• My face looks more lifted and awake, even on tired days
• I carry less tension in my forehead and jaw
• My skin tone is more even and glowy (without changing anything else)
• I feel more in tune with my face—how I hold tension, where I need softness
• It’s become a daily act of self-care, not just skincare
• I was able to stop getting botox injections in my forehead and my brows are lifted better than before
How to Get Started
You can start right now, for free, on YouTube. Here’s the channel I use:

I’d recommend starting with her facial asymmetry routine and committing to just a few days a week. You’ll be surprised how quickly it becomes part of your rhythm.
My Favorite Tools to Pair With It
While Bigan Yoga can be done with just your hands, here are a few things I love to use to enhance the experience:
• Fractionated coconut oil – makes massage smoother – I love this one (linked here)
• Organic castor oil – I also do some of the facial massages with castor oil which has surprisingly regrown my brows! You can read the full blog post on that here. I love this one (linked here)
• Gua sha or massage tool – optional, but I use this nightly after I do an Imi routine (linked here)
• Mirror with good lighting – so you can see what muscles you’re working – I use this one (linked here)
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for something simple, free, and genuinely transformative, give Imi’s Bigan Yoga a try. This isn’t just about looking younger or chasing trends. For me, it’s been about slowing down, reconnecting with myself, and choosing softness—in my routine and in my life.
And the glow? That’s just a bonus. ✨
